The Canon EOS Rebel T1i was a fantastic first DSLR for me and should be for anyone thinking of upgrading from a point & shoot camera. The 3.0" LCD screen is large and viewing images on it is great. Image quality is very good. Shutter speed is fast and auto focus works very well. I shot well over 50,000 images (mostly landscape) with this camera and loved the results. Shooting in JPEG mode yield very good results. However, the RAW headroom seems lacking. Shooting in RAW does not give me much room to play with in terms of exposure and sharpness. And there's noise at ISO 200 and up. So, I have to shoot at higher f-stops, ISO 100, and use a tripod to get sharp images with no noise. It's no problem for me since I shoot mostly landscape and use a tripod most of the time. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 4. Like I mentioned before, this is an excellent first DSLR. I have since bought a Canon EOS 7D. And the 7D machine is a beast. Check out my review of the Canon EOS 7D here!
